Job Title: Junior Researcher Secondment Program

Job Summary
The Junior Researcher will support the Indorelawan pilot project focused on organizational capacity building : Secondment Program. The project is in collaboration with Packard Foundation. This role involves qualitative research, with a primary focus on gathering, analyzing, and synthesizing data related to civil society organizations (CSOs). Quantitative research skills are an asset but not mandatory. The ideal candidate will be proficient in English, both in academic writing and spoken communication. The Junior Researcher will work closely with the Monitoring, Evaluation, and Research Manager, the Team Leader, and the Indorelawan team to conduct research and facilitate a co-design workshop, contributing to the development of CSO capacity-building programs.
Key Responsibilities
- Methodology Development: Assist in refining research methodologies, including conceptual frameworks (e.g., organizational capacity), data collection method, and analysis techniques.
- Literature Review: Undertake comprehensive reviews of existing literature, reports, case studies, and other relevant sources. Use synthesis matrix techniques to organize and compare findings systematically.
- Ethical Clearance: Manage the ethical clearance process, ensuring all necessary documentation is prepared and submitted to BRIN, and that approvals are obtained in full compliance with ethical standards.
- Qualitative Research: Conduct in-depth interviews, focus groups, and fieldwork to gather qualitative insights on organizational capacity, core capabilities, knowledge bases, change management, and organizational culture.
- Data Analysis: Analyze qualitative data to identify trends, patterns, and insights related to CSO capacity gaps and needs. Assist with basic quantitative analysis if applicable.
- Workshop Facilitation: Assist in the planning, coordination, and facilitation of participatory workshops involving multiple stakeholders to develop and validate program design elements.
- Report Writing: Assist drafting of inception reports, including findings from literature reviews, interviews, and co-creation workshops.
- Stakeholder Engagement: Support the organization and facilitation of engagement with key stakeholders.
- Collaboration: Work closely with the project Monitoring, Evaluation, and Research Manager, Team Leader, and Indorelawan team members to ensure the research aligns with project goals and timelines.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Social Sciences, Development Studies, or a related field.
- Strong qualitative research skills; experience in conducting interviews, literature reviews, and thematic analysis.
- Proficiency in English, both academic writing and spoken communication.
- Ability to analyze and synthesize data and develop insightful, evidence-based conclusions.
- Basic quantitative research competence is preferable but not required.
- Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and report-writing skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Familiarity with organizational capacity and capacity building concepts for civil society organizations.
- Experience working with CSOs or in capacity-building initiatives.
- Knowledge of systems thinking and theory of change frameworks.
Working Conditions
Hybrid with some fieldwork and potential travel to support workshops or data collection activities.
